Kim Lawrence
Sensuous designs, distinctive style and sophisticated creations are the keynotes of this American artist’s exciting collections showcased in the Enesco Gallery, at the forefront of modern home décor.
As a studio artist for Enesco, Kim Lawrence designs home accessories and figurines in many different styles and media. She is the artist behind Circle Of Love, a contemporary, porcelain home décor line centering on love and family.
Kim receives artistic inspiration by working in a variety of materials, from creating resin figurines for Enesco’s gift and décor lines to designing contemporary home accessories in porcelain. She also loves the brainstorming process: ‘I find satisfaction in discovering that next unique idea,’ says Kim. ‘It’s wonderful when I come up with an idea, know it’s a good one, and then see the end result when my artwork is translated into a three-dimensional figure.’
When Kim is not designing for Enesco, she enjoys creating contemporary abstract paintings and ink drawings with an inspiring message and meaning. ‘I love designing realistically, as seen in some of my figurine lines, but to communicate more complex emotion and thought provoking messages, I prefer the freedom of abstraction. I just like to relax and let the color and line flow out onto the canvas.’
Kim holds a degree in illustration from Northern Illinois University. After a couple of years working for a Chicago area advertising agency, she joined Enesco in 1987 as a graphic designer. Several years later, Kim moved into product development and has been designing figurines and home accents ever since.
The sophisticated pure white porcelain figurines of her much-loved Circle of Love collection are inspired by the power of the embrace, and the symbolism of the circle and heart to represent eternal love through the distinctive fluid and intimate sculptural style, for which this collection has become so popular.
