Our brand new collection of appealing accessories featuring artwork by watercolour artist, Sarah Stokes, has a fresh contemporary feel and is perfect for any home, or any gift…
Sarah Stokes’ extraordinary talent is all the more remarkable because she is self taught! In 2010 she started drawing pencil portraits for fun and in 2013, bought her first watercolour set…and was hooked! In August 2013, she was represented by her first gallery, with more coming on board since.
Sarah takes her inspiration from a wide variety of sources, whether it be driving past a group of wild pheasants in Shropshire, or chuckling at the antics of her rescue chickens in the back garden. Her art draws the viewer into the facial expression of each subject, particularly by focusing on the animal’s eyes. Once the prominent facial features have been painted, Sarah ‘loosens up’ the rest of the work so that it looks fluid and natural.
‘I am really excited about the future,’ says Sarah, ‘and particularly with the new Border Fine Arts range coming out this January. It was only a few years ago that I was a visitor to the NEC’s Spring Fair tentatively speaking with galleries and publishers about my work, so I’m over the moon to be represented at this year’s Spring Fair by such a well-established and respected organisation. I hope that this will be the first of many collections and that BFA customers will enjoy having the products in their home as much as I have enjoyed illustrating them.’
